My Swing Score
Your Swing Score is a quick way to understand the overall quality of your swing mechanics. It’s a single number (0–100) that summarizes how closely your movements match proven patterns used by high-performing hitters.
This score is calculated by combining your results across all 12 swing dimensions—from your load and stride to your contact position and follow-through. This helps you quickly spot whether your swing is on track or needs adjustments.
How Should I Use My Swing Score?
- Track your progress over time. Your score will change as you improve your mechanics.
- Focus on what matters most. A lower total score doesn’t mean everything is broken—check your lowest scoring dimensions to find your biggest opportunities for improvement.
- Use it to guide your training. Your personalized drills and Practice Focus are designed to raise your Swing Score by fixing your weakest links.
What are the 12 Swing Dimensions?
SwingAI evaluates your swing across 12 core movement metrics. These dimensions are grouped into four categories in your SwingAI Report: Balance & Load, Stride, Power Move, and Contact & Follow-Through. Understanding these will help you make the most of your feedback and drills.
These dimensions focus on how well you prepare your body to create power.
- Negative Move: The first move in your swing—shifting weight back to load energy like pulling a slingshot. A strong negative move sets the stage for explosive power.
- Pelvis Load: How well your hips coil during your load phase. This stores energy in your lower body and helps you stay balanced and powerful through the swing.
- Upper Torso Load: Tracks how your shoulders rotate inward during the load. This helps create tension and build bat speed.
These dimensions relate to how you shift your weight and time your movement toward the ball.
- Stride Length: How far you step forward when you stride. Based on your height, the right length builds momentum without throwing off your balance.
- Hip Shoulder Separation at Foot Down: Also known as “X-Factor”—this is the angle between your hips and shoulders when your front foot lands. More separation means more torque and power.
These dimensions assess how effectively you build and release energy through the swing.
- Max Hip Shoulder Separation: The largest angle between hips and shoulders at any point during your swing. It shows how well you’re building and releasing stored energy.
- Forward Move: The forward shift of your body as you stride. It should be controlled and timed to stop just before you launch the swing.
- Pelvis Total Rotation Range: Tracks the total rotation of your hips from load to contact. Proper rotation leads to stronger swings and better bat control.
These dimensions reflect how well your body is positioned when you make contact and how efficiently energy is transferred.
- Hip Shoulder Separation at Contact: Shows if your swing finishes with proper sequencing. Hips and shoulders should be aligned to drive the barrel efficiently through the ball.
- Pelvis Direction at Contact: Where your hips are facing when you make contact with the ball. Ideally, your hips should be square to the pitcher for max energy transfer.
- Upper Torso Total Rotation Range: Tracks how far your shoulders rotate from load to contact. The right range helps with swing speed and staying on the ball.
- Upper Torso Direction at Contact: Measures shoulder alignment when you hit the ball. Staying closed through contact helps with barrel control and plate coverage.
Each swing dimension score comes with a color-coded rating to help you instantly see where you’re strong and where you need to improve:
🟢 Excellent – Your movement in this area closely matches elite swing patterns. Keep it up!
🟡 Satisfactory – This movement is functional, but there’s room for refinement. Small changes can lead to big gains.
🔴 Off Target – This area needs attention. It’s likely affecting your overall performance and should be a training focus.
